Om Backlit Corian Mandir for Home
The signature element on this mandir is a hand-engraved Pranava Om set into the rear sanctum panel, lit from behind by a concealed warm-white LED. The symbol is routed to 8 mm depth into the Corian, then thermoformed at the edges so the light bleeds softly rather than slicing out a hard cutout. During sandhya aarti the Om glows at the centre of the mandir like a lit diya — the first point the eye lands on and the last point the eye leaves. Manufactured by Satguru Creations, Mumbai's first Corian mandir manufacturer since 1975, with over 10,000 installations delivered across India and export to USA, UK, Canada, Australia and Europe.
Design theme and interior fit
The Om-centred design works across four interior styles: (1) modern apartment — a compact Glacier White body with the Om as the single motif and no additional carving, so the symbol carries the whole piece; (2) contemporary Indian — a Warm Ivory body with gold-leaf Om outline and straight pillars; (3) designer villa shrine — pearl-white body, dimmable warm-white Om halo, mirror-finish deity panel around the Om so the light multiplies; (4) minimalist Scandinavian-meets-Indian — matte white body with the Om as the sole ornament, popular with export clients in Canada and UK. The Om is the hero on every build.
Craftsmanship — how the Om is lit
The Om on this piece is not printed or pasted. Our Mumbai artisans hand-engrave the Pranava onto a 19 mm Corian rear panel using a combination of CNC routing and hand-chisel finishing at the curve joints — the loops of the Om have tight radii that routers cannot fully clean, so the inside of the curve is finished by hand. The engraved cavity holds a concealed warm-white SMD LED strip (24 V, IP20, CRI greater than 90) in an aluminium channel, with an opal diffuser layer so no LED dots show through. The engraved edges are chamfered to 30 degrees so the halo radiates gently rather than line-lit. The result is a visible Om during the day and a glowing Om at night — one element, two moods.
Material and finish
Built from DuPont-grade Corian in 40+ shade options. Seamless bonded joints across body and plinth; the rear Om panel is the only structural break and it is invisibly bonded. Corian is non-porous, so kumkum, haldi and ghee-lamp smoke wipe clean with a cloth. It does not crack like marble, does not warp like wood, and does not yellow under constant LED heat like cheap PVC-acrylic. Standard finish is satin matte with the Om panel in high-gloss for contrast; dual-tone combinations are available on request.
Size specifications
Five standard sizes; every dimension customisable. Compact 22" W x 16" D x 34" H — 1-BHK niche or kitchen-counter alcove with a small Om; this size is popular with export clients. Standard 34" W x 22" D x 58" H — the most ordered for 2-BHK apartments. Large 48" W x 28" D x 72" H — dedicated pooja room with a larger Om that reads across the room. Premium 60" W x 34" D x 84" H — villa feature wall. Temple-hall 72" W x 40" D x 96" H+ — housing-society shrine with a dominant Om halo visible from the entry. Corian thickness 12 mm standard / 19 mm premium; rear Om panel always 19 mm for cleaner halo depth.

Why Satguru Creations
Since 1975 we have built and delivered over 10,000 Corian mandirs from our Mumbai factory. We are not traders — the sheet, the CNC bed, the chisel, the LED driver and the final polish are all under one roof. We use only authentic DuPont-grade Corian. Our 4.8/5 average from 291 verified reviews is on the shop page in real time. Every mandir is covered by our lifetime consultation guarantee — panels, seams, LED driver and installation. Three generations of the founding family run the factory; quality control is family-run, not outsourced.
Expertise — three generations on one symbol
Our in-house architects are Vastu-trained and proportion every Om to the sanctum width using a classical 1:3 ratio. CNC programming is done by our own production engineer. Hand-engraving of the Om loops is done by three senior artisans with 18 to 30 years on Corian — the Om is technically the hardest motif because of the two enclosed curves. LED halo circuits are vetted by a licensed electrician before every despatch. This is why a Satguru Om halo stays crisp for decades.

Frequently asked questions
Q: How is the Om symbol lit?
The Om is hand-engraved into a 19 mm rear Corian panel to 8 mm depth, with a concealed warm-white LED channel and an opal diffuser inside the cavity. From the front, the Om glows as a soft halo without any visible LED dots.
Q: Can I request a different deity panel instead of Om?
Yes. We build Ganesh, Shiva, Radha-Krishna, and Goddess Lakshmi backlit panels using the same engraving technique. Send us a reference and we will mock the motif at two sizes in the 3D render.
Q: Does the Om work during the day when unlit?
Yes. The engraving is visible as a tactile carving in daylight. The LED halo activates the glow only when switched on.
Q: Can the halo colour be changed for festivals?
Optional. Standard is warm-white 3000 K. Upgrade to dual-mode with warm-white plus RGB gives you gold for Diwali, red for Navratri, blue for Janmashtami, and soft white for daily aarti.
Q: Will the Om engraving darken over years of ghee-lamp use?
No. Corian is non-porous so ghee smoke wipes off with a damp cloth. The Om edges are chamfered and polished, so there is no rough surface for residue to catch on.
Q: What is the smallest size this works in?
The compact 22" W x 16" D x 34" H build with a 6" Om is the minimum we recommend — smaller than that the halo reads as a dot rather than a symbol. Compact 1-BHKs and export niches are our most common clients at this size.
