The Corian home temple with sliding doors and storage is what we build for the family that doesn't have swing-clearance for a hinged door. Mumbai apartments, narrow pooja-room niches, USA and Canada condos with corridor altars — all of them need a temple that closes the deity behind a door without that door swinging into the corridor. This piece uses a flush bypass sliding door system for the altar enclosure, paired with soft-close drawers and a concealed cabinet at the base. Design theme — rooms it solves

The bypass sliding door is what makes this design work in four interior types: (1) compact 1-BHK with narrow pooja niche — bypass slider gives full deity access without door-swing intrusion; (2) 2-BHK corridor-mounted altar — sliding doors don't block the corridor when open; (3) USA / Canada condo — the no-swing footprint suits tight North American floor-plans; (4) commercial / housing-society temple — lockable bypass doors restrict access to the deity outside aarti hours. The doors carry a printed deity panel or peacock-feather motif, lit from behind by the optional altar LED so the closed-door state still reads as a temple, not as a closed cabinet.

Craftsmanship — the sliding-door track that doesn't fail

Sliding-door mandirs fail at the track. Most market designs use a cheap top-hung wheel that develops play after a year and rattles when slid. Our build uses a twin-channel bypass track with stainless-steel ball-bearing carriages, top-hung with a soft-close damper at each end so the door settles into closed position without slamming. The door panels themselves are 12 mm Corian, balanced for low rolling resistance, with a concealed felt strip on the lower edge that keeps the door from chattering at the bottom guide. The base storage drawers ride on full-extension ball-bearing soft-close runners; the cabinet door uses a concealed magnetic catch. A continuous dust-resistant gasket seals the slider track from incense ash. Every component CNC machined and hand-fitted at our Mumbai factory.

Material & finish

The body, sliding doors and storage plinth are all DuPont-grade acrylic solid-surface Corian. Non-porous, seam-welded, will not yellow. Forty-plus DuPont colour codes stocked. Sliding-door panels are typically gloss-finished for low rolling friction; the body can be matched in gloss, satin or matte. Versus marble bypass doors (which would crack on a slider): non-issue. Versus wood doors (which warp and bind on humid days): non-issue. Versus the cheap PVC-acrylic that some narrow-space mandirs use: no yellowing on the deity panel, no peel-back at the door edge.
