Corian Mandir with Pillars and Cabinet Storage: Designer Pooja Unit

Corian Mandir for Home with Pillars and Practical Cabinet Storage

This is the build for the family that wants the architectural drama of carved Corian pillars and the everyday usefulness of a real storage cabinet underneath, not a tiny ornamental drawer that holds two matchboxes. The Corian mandir with pillars and cabinet storage sits a hand-finished pillared altar over a working drawer-and-cabinet plinth: the eye reads the pillars first, then the cabinet pulls down for daily aarti saman. Conceived, CNC routed, hand-polished and assembled by Satguru Creations: Mumbai's first Corian mandir manufacturer, in production since 1975, with 10,000+ units delivered across India and exports to USA, UK, Canada and Australia.

Design theme: the four interior fits

Pillars give this mandir presence, so it slots into more formal interiors: (1) designer villa pooja room: tapered round pillars with a carved lotus base, ivory Corian, full-width seated platform; (2) contemporary Indian apartment: straight square pillars, fluted profile, pearl-white body with a printed deity backplate; (3) heritage Marwari haveli: fluted square pillars, kalash finial, dual-tone gold-on-ivory; (4) commercial / housing-society temple: structural pillars in 19 mm Corian, lockable cabinet, GST-invoice supplied. The pillar profile is the lever we move to dial the formality up or down: simpler pillars for apartment use, more carved pillars for villa or society temples.

Craftsmanship: pillars and storage built as one piece

The pillars on this mandir are not glued-on cosmetic trim. Each pillar is a structural element, CNC routed from solid Corian, threaded onto a captive insert at base and capital, then hand-polished on every facet. The cabinet plinth they rest on is engineered to carry the load: 19 mm reinforced Corian top platform, internal aluminium box-section sub-frame, and adjustable feet for floor levelling. Drawers in the plinth ride on full-extension ball-bearing runners with soft-close damping; cabinet doors close on concealed magnetic catches with a flexible dust-resistant gasket sealing the edges. Drawer interiors are lined with a scratch-resistant matte panel so silver pooja items don't pick up scuffs from the runner cycle. CNC and hand-polish work happen at our Mumbai workshop.

Material & finish

Body and pillars are DuPont-grade acrylic solid-surface Corian. Joints are seamless thanks to chemical welding; pillar bases attach via a concealed steel insert that lets the homeowner unship the unit for relocation without breaking joints. Forty-plus colour codes available, with high-gloss, satin or matte finish. Corian is roughly one-fifth the weight of equivalent marble, and unlike wood it does not warp, swell or split when monsoon humidity hits the storage base.

Size specifications

Five standard footprints; everything is custom-buildable. Compact 30" W × 20" D × 66" H: two slim front pillars, single drawer + cabinet, fits 1-BHK niches. Standard 42" W × 24" D × 72" H: four pillars, two drawers + double cabinet, the most-ordered 2-BHK size. Large 54" W × 28" D × 78" H: four heavier pillars with capitals, three drawers, double cabinet. Premium 66" W × 32" D × 84" H: carved villa pillars, deep cabinet for festival decor, seated-aarti platform. Hall 78" W × 36" D × 90" H+: structural pillars in 19 mm Corian, lockable cabinets for housing-society or villa shrine rooms. Pillar diameter ranges 3.5–6 inches; pillar height 36–72 inches.

Customisation

• Pillar profile: straight square, tapered round, fluted, or hand-carved with motif.
• Pillar motif: plain, lotus base, kalash capital, peacock relief, or family-deity panel.
• Corian colour: Glacier White, Designer White, Pearl Gray, Warm Ivory or any DuPont code.
• Drawer count: one to three drawers, deep festival drawer optional.

Space suitability

Designer villa pooja room: the premium 66" size with carved pillars and seated-aarti platform anchors a dedicated shrine. Apartment with daily-saman storage need: the standard 42" pillared build still leaves working drawer height comfortable. Living-room altar: large 54" with double cabinet keeps festival decor hidden between Diwali and Navratri. 2-BHK bedroom corner altar: compact 30" with two slim pillars sits against a side wall. Housing-society temple: hall 78" size with structural pillars and lockable cabinets is the layout most resident committees specify when they replace a wood mandir.

Three generations in the family. Pillar carving is led by two senior artisans with combined 50+ years on Corian column work. CNC pillar programming is done by our in-house production engineer. Cabinet hardware is fitted under the supervision of our senior carpenter, and a Vastu-trained architect signs off the proportional ratio between pillar height and altar platform before any unit goes to manufacture.

Frequently asked questions

Q: How many drawers can sit between the pillars?
The pillared plinth supports one to three drawers across the front. The standard 42 inch size carries two drawers and a double-door cabinet between four pillars.

Q: Is the cabinet lockable for a housing-society temple?
Yes. The hall 78 inch size with cam-lock cabinet is our most-specified housing-society configuration; the lock is concealed and key-operated.

Q: What can I store in the cabinet under the pillars?
The cabinet holds silver pooja vessels, festive thaali, deity vastra and folded jyot stands. The drawers above hold daily saman like agarbatti, kumkum and oil bottles.

Q: Are the pillars structural or only decorative?
Structural. Each pillar is solid Corian threaded onto a captive insert with an internal aluminium sub-frame on hall-size builds, so the cabinet platform carries genuine load.

Q: Will the pillars warp or yellow over the years?
No. DuPont-grade Corian is dimensionally stable and UV-resistant, so the pillars retain their dimension and colour through monsoons and overseas climate cycles.

Q: Can the pillared mandir be installed in a USA or Canada apartment?
Yes. The unit ships flat-pack with numbered pillar parts, foam-immobilised drawers and a video assembly guide. Most North American customers complete install in 3 to 4 hours with our remote WhatsApp video support.
