3D carving and backlit peacock craftsmanship

Two distinct craft elements combine on this piece. First, the 3D relief carving on the front fascia — our senior artisans hand-chisel Corian to 10 to 14 mm relief depth, deeper than any surface print could imitate, and hand-polish the recesses so the peacock motif reads clean in every lighting condition. Second, the backlit peacock feather panel — the feather outline is CNC-cut through a 12 mm Corian back panel, the cut-out is infilled with a translucent diffuser layer, and a warm-white SMD LED strip (24 V, IP20, CRI over 90) sits behind in an aluminium channel. The peacock reads as a glowing silhouette at night and as a subtle embossed panel during the day. Pillars carry matching backlit channels. The concealed drawer runs on soft-close ball-bearing slides — silent, no visible handle, push-to-open. Every LED runs through a driver concealed in the base; cord exits a hidden port at the base rear. The mandir hangs on a single Z-cleat load-tested to 50 kg.

Material

DuPont-grade Corian only. The 3D relief demands a material that won't chip at the chisel line, and Corian's homogeneous acrylic solid surface is specifically suited — every recess hand-polishes cleanly. The translucent diffuser used in the peacock backlight is also Corian, cut thinner (3 mm) and hand-finished to the exact translucency needed for the soft-glow effect. Forty-plus sheet colours available; finishes in high-gloss, satin-matte, or dual-tone.

Q: Is the 3D relief on the fascia hand-carved?

Q: Does the mandir stay cool with the backlit panel running overnight?
Yes. The SMD strip is low-wattage and the aluminium channel acts as a heat sink. Safe to leave on overnight, and the Corian will not yellow because we use DuPont-grade stock (not cheap PVC-acrylic that discolours under warm LEDs).
