Compact Corian Home Temple with Pocket Sliding Doors and Backlit Balaji
Built for apartments, 1-BHKs and compact niches that want a closing temple without losing footprint — the doors slide into concealed pocket recesses on either side rather than swinging open into the room, freeing the floor for daily traffic. Behind the doors sits a backlit Balaji panel: Lord Venkateshwara hand-engraved at 8–12 mm relief depth, lit from behind by a warm-white halo so the deity appears to glow when the doors part. Same DuPont-grade Corian and hand-finishing as our larger temples, sized for the smaller home. Manufactured by Satguru Creations — Mumbai's first Corian mandir manufacturer since 1975, with 10,000+ units delivered across India and export.
Design theme and apartment fit
The pocket-door backlit Balaji unit suits four interior contexts: (1) South-Indian Vaishnava family apartment — antique-cream Corian, full Balaji panel, gold-inlay tirumana lines; (2) contemporary 2-BHK pooja corner — Glacier white Corian, simplified Balaji outline, pocket doors with kalash motif; (3) NRI Vaishnava home in USA, UK or Canada — Designer white Corian, full Balaji panel, ships flat with numbered parts; (4) compact 1-BHK alcove — pearl-ivory Corian, narrow profile pocket doors, dimmable warm-white halo. The pocket-door geometry is the value here — daily aarti happens with the doors open; the rest of the day, the deity rests behind closed doors.
Pocket-door engineering and Balaji backlight
The pocket sliding doors run on a top-hung Corian-on-aluminium track recessed into the cabinet header. Each door slides into a concealed pocket on either side of the altar — when fully open, the doors disappear inside the cabinet and the Balaji panel reads unobstructed. The doors carry hand-engraved kalash or simplified gopuram motif on the visible face. The Balaji panel behind the doors is hand-engraved at 8–12 mm relief depth — face, kireeta, conch and chakra all carved by senior artisans after CNC routing. A concealed warm-white SMD LED strip behind the panel projects a soft halo around the deity, lit at 3000 K to match diya warmth. The cabinet has two specific spaces — a tilak-and-prasadam shelf inside, and a hidden agarbatti niche.
Material and finish
Authentic DuPont-grade Corian only. Over 40 colour codes available, including Glacier White, Antique Cream, Designer White, Pearl Ivory and an antique-marble range. Compared with marble, half the weight (the doors slide cleanly because the Corian door panels are light); compared with wood, no warping under apartment humidity; compared with PVC-acrylic, no yellowing in five years. Standard finish satin matte (preferred for Vaishnava pooja); high gloss and dual-tone (gloss Balaji panel with matte body) available. Door panels are hand-polished on both faces.
Compact size specifications
Lead with compact 24–36″ widths. Compact 24″ W × 18″ D × 36″ H — most-ordered for 1-BHK and 2-BHK alcoves. Standard-Compact 30″ W × 18″ D × 48″ H — small-apartment corner with full Balaji panel. Standard 36″ W × 24″ D × 60″ H — dedicated apartment pooja room. Wall-Mount Compact 24″ W × 14″ D × 36″ H — floats above a console. Tall-Compact 24″ W × 18″ D × 54″ H — narrow column profile. Pocket-door pocket depth 6″ on either side. Corian thickness 12 mm standard. Custom to the inch.

Pocket-door and Balaji-carving expertise
Pocket-door work at compact scale needs precision — the door must slide cleanly into the pocket without binding, the track must be hidden inside the header, and the door panel must not warp under daily slide. Our production engineer programs the CNC for door panel flatness; senior artisans fit the top-hung track; six artisans (15–30 years on Corian each) carve the Balaji panel. Licensed electrician burns in every halo unit before despatch. We have built this configuration for hundreds of Vaishnava families specifically because the pocket geometry suits Balaji daily-aarti rituals.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Will this compact pocket-door unit fit a 6 ft apartment wall?
Yes. Compact 24 inch and standard-compact 30 inch sizes both fit a 6 ft wall with full pocket-door pockets on either side. Standard 36 inch fits a 7 ft wall comfortably.
Q: Can I wall-mount this Balaji unit?
Yes. The wall-mount-compact variant uses a concealed steel sub-frame rated 40 to 60 kg. Note the LED halo wiring routes through the rear cavity for clean wall-mount install.
Q: Is the compact Balaji build lower quality than your villa pieces?
No. Same DuPont-grade Corian, same hand-carving on the Balaji panel, same six senior artisans, same licensed electrician burn-in. Only the footprint is smaller.
Q: Does this unit ship overseas easily?
Yes. The compact crate fits standard apartment elevators in USA, UK, Canada and Australia. Ships flat with numbered parts, pre-tested halo LED, English-Hindi-Gujarati video and WhatsApp-video remote support.
Q: What is the smallest pocket-door mandir you build?
The compact 24 inch wide variant is the smallest standard pocket-door size, because the pocket pockets each side need at least 6 inch depth for clean door slide. Smaller bespoke sizes possible.
Q: Can the Balaji panel be replaced with another deity?
Yes. We have built the same pocket-door cabinet with Krishna, Lakshmi, Hanuman, Rama and family ishta-devata panels. Send a reference image on WhatsApp and we render before manufacture.
