Banana-Leaf Jali Corian Mandir

The banana-leaf jali corian mandir is a fretwork build — the door panels are CNC cut into a repeating banana-leaf jhaali pattern with hand-finished edges on every cut-out, so light passes through during the day and an optional warm LED glows through the leaves at night. It is the design we recommend when the homeowner wants the mandir to read as art when the doors are closed and as a softly-lit shrine when the doors are open. Hand-built by Satguru Creations, Mumbai's first Corian mandir manufacturer since 1975, with 10,000+ installations delivered across India and to USA, UK, Canada and Australia.

Design theme — which interiors it fits

Banana-leaf jali fretwork suits four interior contexts: (1) contemporary Indian apartment — warm ivory Corian, plain pillars, jali on the door panels; (2) South-Indian / Kerala-aesthetic home — pearl-white body with the leaf jali traditional to that region; (3) designer villa — jali doors backlit with warm LED so the leaf shadows project softly onto the deity panel; (4) tropical / coastal home interiors — the leaf motif sits naturally with palm and bamboo design language. Pattern density is variable: open jali for maximum airflow, dense jali for more visual privacy of the deity.

CNC fretwork — the craft that makes it work

Jali looks simple but is the hardest format to cut cleanly in Corian. Our process: (a) CNC routing at high spindle speed and slow feed so each cut-out edge is glass-smooth before hand-finishing; (b) hand-finished edges on every cut-out — six senior artisans pass each leaf-shaped opening with a micro-grit pad to round the inner edge by 0.5 mm so the jali never has the brittle laser-cut look; (c) dust filter behind the jali — a removable fine-mesh insert sits between the jali door and the deity panel, so kitchen and city dust never settles on the idol; (d) LED behind the jali — an optional warm-white channel mounts behind the deity panel so the leaf openings glow gently from within. The jali is structural; despite the cut-outs, the panel is engineered for daily door opening and closing.

Material and finish

The whole mandir is built in DuPont-grade Corian. Joints are chemically bonded and sanded flush. Corian holds the jali edge cleanly because it is solid through, not a laminate — you cannot do this build cleanly in cheap PVC-acrylic, which chips on every cut-out. Forty-plus sheet codes available; for jali we recommend either pure white (so the cut-outs read as graphic shadow) or warm ivory (so the LED glows softly through the leaves at night).

Size specifications

Five standard sizes, every measurement custom-to-inch. Compact 24″ W × 18″ D × 36″ H — small jali pattern. Standard 36″ W × 24″ D × 60″ H — the most-ordered jali size for 2-BHK pooja rooms. Large 48″ W × 30″ D × 72″ H — ideal for full repeating banana-leaf field. Premium 60″ W × 36″ D × 84″ H. Temple-hall 72″ W × 42″ D × 96″ H+. Corian thickness 12 mm standard; 19 mm premium for larger jali doors so the cut-outs stay structural.

Customisation — what you can change

  • Corian colour: Glacier White, Warm Ivory, Pearl Gray, Designer White and 35+ more.
  • Jali pattern: banana leaf, peepal leaf, lotus jhaali, geometric Rajasthani, Kerala palm.
  • Jali density: open (60% open area), medium (45%), dense (30% — for more privacy).
  • Door type: hinged jali doors, sliding jali doors, or pocket jali doors.
  • Storage: drawer for pooja saman, hidden agarbatti slot, dual drawer set.
  • Backlight: warm-white LED behind the jali, dimmable, or RGB festival mode.
  • Dust filter: standard removable mesh, or upgrade to washable HEPA-grade cloth.

Space suitability

2-BHK pooja room: 36″ standard with banana-leaf jali on hinged doors and warm LED behind. Designer villa shrine: 60″ premium with full repeating jali field and dimmable backlight. Living-room feature wall: 48″ large — jali reads as wall art when closed, shrine when open. South Indian heritage home: 48″ large with peepal-leaf jali and warm ivory finish. Export condo: 36″ floor-standing — ships flat, jali pre-finished and protected.

The process — factory to install

  1. Consult on WhatsApp +91 83693 35359 with room photos and preferred jali pattern.
  2. Design — 3D render with jali pattern preview within 48 hours.
  3. Quote — fixed all-in: Corian + jali fretwork + LED + delivery + install (India) or crate + freight (export).
  4. Manufacture — CNC rout then hand-finish every cut-out edge. Lead time 14–18 working days.
  5. QC — 32-point check, jali edge inspection under raking light, LED burn-in, dust-filter fit.
  6. Despatch — crated with jali face protected. Pan-India 3–7 days; export 14–25 days sea / 5–8 days air.
  7. Install — white-glove in India; numbered-parts video guide for export.

Why Satguru Creations

We are not a reseller — we are the factory. 1975 founding, 10,000+ Corian mandirs delivered, 4.8/5 from 291 verified customers. Combined 200+ years of artisan experience. Hand-finishing every jali cut-out is slow work — that is exactly why we keep it in-house and why our jali looks rounded and considered, not laser-cut and brittle. Lifetime consultation guarantee on every unit.

Expertise

Three-generation family business. In-house Vastu-trained architects translate the homeowner's preference (privacy, light, motif heritage) into a jali pattern. CNC programming by our production engineer; cut-out hand-finishing by six senior artisans, 15–30 years each on Corian. LED circuit vetted by a licensed electrician before despatch.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Will dust enter through the jali openings?
The jali sits on the door face, but a removable fine-mesh dust filter mounts immediately behind it, between the jali and the deity panel. So airflow stays open but visible dust does not settle on the idol.

Q: Can the jali be backlit?
Yes. We mount an optional warm-white LED channel behind the deity panel so the leaf openings glow softly from within. Dimmable and festival-mode RGB upgrades are available.

Q: What standard jali patterns can I choose from?
Banana leaf, peepal leaf, lotus jhaali, geometric Rajasthani, Kerala palm, swastik field. Density adjustable from 60 percent open to 30 percent open.

Q: Can I supply a custom jali design?
Yes. Send a sketch or reference image and we convert it to a CNC pattern, hand-finish each cut-out, and run a sample edge inspection before full cut.

Q: Will the jali be strong enough to use as a door?
Yes. Corian is solid through, and we use 12 mm thickness standard (19 mm on premium sizes). The jali is engineered for daily opening and closing on hinges, sliding tracks or pocket tracks.

Q: Do you ship jali corian mandirs internationally?
Yes. Over 200 Corian mandirs delivered to North America. Jali doors are crated with foam-template protection over each cut-out face; LED ships pre-wired and we remote-support install over WhatsApp video.
