Premium Corian Temple with Damru Pillars and Backlit Design

The signature detail on this temple is the damru-shaped pillar — a pillar profile referencing Lord Shiva's damru drum, with an hourglass waist, flared caps and a concealed warm-white LED channel running down the spine of each pillar. The damru pillar is rarely attempted in Corian because the waist radius is tight and the flared caps require thermoforming; we build it regularly because Shiva-bhakta clients specifically request it. When lit, each pillar glows along its waist and caps, so the drum shape reads three-dimensionally even from across the room. Manufactured by Satguru Creations, Mumbai's first Corian mandir manufacturer since 1975, with 10,000+ installations delivered across India and export to USA, UK, Canada, Australia and Europe.

Design theme and interior fit

The damru-pillar design suits: (1) Shiva-bhakta villa shrine — pearl-white body with matte damru pillars and a dimmable warm-white halo, the most-ordered build; (2) heritage temple-style home — cream Corian with gold-leaf pillar caps and a multi-cusped arch referencing Kedarnath-style temple architecture; (3) modern apartment — Glacier White body, simplified damru pillars, single-zone halo — for Shiva devotees in 2 and 3-BHKs; (4) commercial Shiva temple or corporate lobby — temple-hall size with steel sub-frame and reinforced damru-pillar anchoring. The damru is a Shiva emblem, so this build is almost always ordered for a Shiva or Shiva-family sanctum.

Craftsmanship — the damru pillar build

A damru pillar is harder than a round or square pillar because it has three distinct turnings: flared top cap, narrow waist, flared bottom cap. Each pillar on this temple is thermoformed in three Corian sections (top cap, waist, bottom cap) and seamlessly bonded with UV-cured seam resin; the joints are sanded invisible. The waist is the structural weak point so we add a concealed stainless-steel spine inside the waist for rigidity. Each pillar carries a recessed aluminium LED channel running from cap to cap, so the entire pillar glows. The pillar caps are hand-polished to high-gloss, the waist is satin, giving the damru a two-tone light-catching finish. Depth of turning: 14 mm on the flare, 12 mm on the waist, hand-finished at the radius joints.

Material and finish

Built from DuPont-grade Corian — essential for the damru profile because the waist radius cannot be achieved in marble without cracking, and MDF warps at the waist seam within a year. 40+ DuPont shade options. The body is non-porous, so ghee-lamp residue and kumkum wipe clean. Standard finish: satin body + high-gloss damru caps + matte waist. Gold-leaf pillar caps and silver-leaf damru-face roundels are popular upgrades for heritage villa builds.

Size specifications

Five standard sizes. Compact 32" W x 22" D x 48" H — 4" damru pillars, apartment shrine. Standard 44" W x 28" D x 68" H — 5" damru pillars, most-ordered for 3-BHK Shiva bhaktas. Large 56" W x 34" D x 80" H — 6" damru pillars with deeper carving, dedicated Shiva pooja room. Premium 68" W x 40" D x 90" H — 7" damru pillars with gold-leaf caps, villa feature wall. Temple-hall 80" W x 46" D x 104" H+ — 9" damru pillars with reinforced steel core, community Shiva temple. Corian thickness 12 mm on body, 19 mm on pillars for carving depth.

Customisation

  • Corian colour: Glacier White, Warm Ivory, Pearl Gray, Canvas, or any DuPont code.
  • Damru pillar variation: classical damru (standard), tall-waist damru, broad-waist damru, or damru with carved Shiva-face roundel at the waist.
  • Arch style: multi-cusped Shiva arch, plain arch, or Mount-Kailash inspired triple-peak arch.
  • Sanctum centrepiece: Shivling platform (Vastu-proportioned), seated Shiva throne, or Shiva-Parvati family panel.
  • Door type: open altar, jali fretwork (popular for Shiva temples), sliding door, or pocket door.
  • Storage: concealed drawers for rudraksha, bilva leaves, abhishek samagri; agarbatti tray.
  • Lighting: warm-white 3000 K (standard), dimmable, blue-white accent (Shiva-Neelkanth mode), or RGB festival for Mahashivratri.

Space suitability

Shiva-bhakta villa dedicated shrine: premium 68" with damru-face roundels and gold-leaf caps is the most-ordered villa build. Apartment pooja room for Shiva devotees: standard 44" with 5" damru pillars fits 10x12 and 11x13 ft rooms proportionally. Heritage bungalow with Shivling: large 56" with multi-cusped arch and Shivling platform — the traditional layout. Community Shiva temple or corporate Mahashivratri setup: temple-hall 80" with reinforced damru pillars and Mahashivratri RGB mode. Export USA, UK or Australia Shiva bhakta household: large 56" ships in three crates; damru pillars ship individually foam-wrapped.

The process

  1. Consult on WhatsApp +91 83693 35359 — share room photos, Shivling or idol size, preferred damru variation.
  2. Design — 3D render with damru pillars mocked at two waist radii within 48 hours.
  3. Quote — fixed all-in: Corian + damru thermoforming + steel spine + LED halo + delivery and install.
  4. Manufacture — CNC + thermoform + hand-polish + LED fitting at our Mumbai factory. Damru builds add 3 to 5 days; total lead time 14 to 20 working days.
  5. QC — 32-point check: damru waist symmetry, cap gloss, halo uniformity along pillar, LED burn-in, seam integrity.
  6. Despatch — crated with pillars foam-wrapped and body corner-padded.
  7. Install — white-glove install across India; remote WhatsApp-video support and bilingual guide for exports.

Why Satguru Creations

Since 1975, Satguru Creations has manufactured over 10,000 Corian mandirs from our Mumbai factory. 4.8/5 average from 291 verified reviews. We are a factory, not a reseller — damru-pillar thermoforming is done in-house, not subbed out. We use only DuPont-grade Corian; cheap PVC-acrylic cracks at the damru waist within a year and we do not use it. Every temple is covered by our lifetime consultation guarantee. Delivered to 18 US states, UK, Canada, Australia and Europe. Shiva temples are a regular specialty — roughly 14 percent of our build volume.

Expertise — pillar thermoforming as a craft

The damru pillar is the hardest Corian pillar profile we build, and we build it with our two most senior thermoformers (26 and 29 years on Corian). Our Vastu-trained architects proportion the damru waist to pillar height at a 1:3 ratio. CNC programming is in-house. Steel-spine insertion and LED channel fitting are handled by our own production engineers. LED circuits are vetted by a licensed electrician before despatch. The founding family personally signs off every damru-pillar build before crating.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Are damru pillars structurally sound at the waist?
Yes. We insert a concealed stainless-steel spine through the pillar waist on every build so the pillar carries the full load through the narrow section without flexing. No damru pillar has failed in 10+ years of builds.

Q: Can you add damru-face roundels to the pillar waist?
Yes. Carved Shiva-face or damru-face roundels at the waist are a popular upgrade for heritage and villa builds. We CNC-rough the roundel and hand-chisel the face features.

Q: Is a Shivling platform included?
The Shivling platform is an optional sanctum centrepiece — cut to your Shivling base dimensions with polished edges and a drain channel for abhishek water. Most of our Shiva builds include it.

Q: Does the LED stay cool during long aarti sessions?
Yes. The LED is low-power (24 V, under 20 W per zone) and the aluminium channel dissipates what little heat is generated. The damru pillars stay cool to the touch even after 4-hour aarti sessions.

Q: Which size fits a Shiva-bhakta 3-BHK apartment pooja room?
The standard 44" W x 28" D x 68" H with 5" damru pillars is our most-ordered for that household. The pillars read as the hero without crowding the sanctum.

Q: Can this temple ship to a USA Shiva bhakta household?
Yes. We have delivered 60+ damru-pillar temples to USA. Pillars ship individually foam-wrapped; body ships flat with numbered parts. Full export documentation and remote install support included.
